Due to weather conditions affecting the Cook Strait sailings last night all freight travelling Ex Auckland to the South Island from Monday 03.07.06 has been held up. It is not yet known when the sailings will recommence. There will be some delays in the South Island as follows: Road conditions in the lower SI are very dangerous, with SH1 around Balclutha and SH93 Clinton-Mataura both closed for some time due to ice and SH8 Lindis Pass still dodgy. This will affect Central Otago and Queenstown. Weather conditions at Wellington were described this morning as ‘absolutely atrocious’ as evidenced by ferry sailing times being anything up to 3 hours behind schedule. This will affect the trucks taking the 2 day freight to the South Island. Dunedin: last truck in 6:45. Freight will be delivered however it will be late. Invercargill: first truck crawled in 6:30, others progressing slowly via Gore, where it is snowing! Freight will be delivered however it will be late. |
